Growing up, my parents owned a graphic design studio, Winter Prairie Creative. One of their clients was the Veterans Canteen Service, Department of Veterans Affairs, who produced print and digital marketing materials for 29 ad campaigns each year, including the flyers shown above. I grew up doing production work and learning the business, and through high school acted as a production assistant. I learned typesetting, photo editing, building clipping paths, and assisted at photoshoots by organizing products and setting up tabletop displays to be photographed.
